Our First Time in Tasmania
We have a limited amount of this 4 x 6 inch hand assembled accordion fold booklet that collects a series of paintings Kozy made based on our travels in through Tasmania back in March, 2016. Archival prints, chipboard, stamped and signed by us. A limited edition of 60 booklets.
Tasmania was filled with nature and had very few people. This is the kind of ratio we like to see in a place. We had such an amazing time in Tasmania that when we came back kozy wished that was still there, so she spent a lot of time with the photos we took and made paintings based on several memorial places and characters we encountered. I hope we can go back again and explore more of that wonderful island.

"Celestial Bodies" limited edition print NOW AVAILABLE
We just completed a new pinrt edition called "Celestial Bodies"
Limited edition of 100 signed and numbered giclee prints on Somerset watercolor paper 36 x 24 inches.
Kozy really wanted to do a piece about one of the strangest and most magical creatures in the sea - the nawhal. This real life unicorn of the sea lives in Arctic waters that are currently going through rapid and drastic changes due to the global climate change. Like many animals who make their homes living amongst the polar sea ice, you have to wonder what will happen to them as the environment they evolved to live in rapidly shrinks as the ice caps melt.
Available NOW through PangeaSeed Foundation. Go to their site to see more images and to purchase:
"Captives: Orcas and Pandas" archival print is now available!
Our latest edition to the "Animal Odd Couples" print series is finally released! "Captives: Orcas and Pandas" is now available in our web shop, so go get yours while you can!
An Edition of 150 signed and numbered Fine-art Giclée prints on Somerset watercolor paper. 30" x 24" plus 3-inch border.
For the third image in our ongoing "Animal OddCouples" series, we again pair two animals that struggle due to careless human activity throughout the world. Though the plights of orcas (killer whales) and giant pandas may differ, they look great together, like ebony and ivory all mixed together! The visual combination was fun to pass on.
This Is Where We Stopped Trying To Make Sense Of It All
20 x 16 inches
acrylic and ink on board
Inspired by our trip to the desert parks of Utah earlier this month, Dan did a sketch of a sandstone arch that resembled two lovers embracing. I liked the sketch and ran with it to make this painting. The whole time we were in Utah we couldn't believe how unreal the scenery of the Colorado Plateau was. We kept thinking that Moebius must have been inspired by these places, so this painting is definitely a bit of an homage to the French bandes dessinées master as well as to the mind bending grandeur of this desert landscape. If you ever have the chance to go to Utah - DO IT!
We sent this painting off to Detroit for the LAX/DTW exhibition being curated by Thinkspace Gallery. The exhibition, featuring over 80 artists, is being held at Innerstate Gallery and runs June 6th through July 4th, 2015.

As Californians, kozy and I were honored to be given the Kelp Forest habitat as part of PangeaSeed's "HOME" print suite, which seeks to bring attention to various threatened marine habitats around the world. As divers who spent a good amount of time floating happily through these radiant forests that can be bursting with life, it is a pleasure for us to depict this ecosystem with kozy's painting. Its an ecosystem that only exists along the pacific coastline of the Americas, and along California in particular - where it comes into heavy contact with human activity. Over the last several hundred years the kelp forests, which practically lined the entire coast of California have dwindled down to mere pockets because of human hunting. It began with fur traders hunting sea otters nearly to extinction by the early 1800's, not knowing that sea otters kept the sea urchin population at bay. The explosion of sea urchins (who like to feed on the holdfasts of giant kelp) caused a massive decline of the forests, which were the main protective environment a majority of species along this coast. Visit the link to find out more about how you can help protect this ecosystem!
